Freedom of Azeroth

Our Story: The History of 'Freedom of Azeroth'

Freedom of Azeroth has existed as a guild since the end of Burning Crusade (2007) to present. It has had 3 homes: First, we created our guild on the PvP realm Nazjatar. Every day was an adventure. Completing quests required us to cover ground in tight knit packs, mostly as a survival tactic. Travel requirements were much different then. Whether we were on foot, or guildies taxiing others on our coveted Mammoths, we were ever vigilant to keep a wary eye out for higher leveled PvP players.

Eventually, our realm was overran by the opposition, to a maddening 97% Horde, 3% Alliance. Our guild realized a move would be necessary. It was decided for our small community to then move to a PvE realm, Lightbringer. It was a novel idea to be able to run about questing without the need to constantly look over our shoulders. The guild grew to an astonishing rate. We were able to band together and complete the ICC raids, culminating in our defeating the Lich King. Sadly, when Cataclysm came out, many of our guildies faced real life obstacles and our consistent playing time grew stagnate. Blizzard unwisely allowed a loophole, in which if players grew inactive, anyone could take over the guild.

Unfortunately, one individual, that was very new to our guild family, took advantage and booted everyone out while also stealing all our gold and items. This devastated many, including our then Guild Leader. I felt like I had failed as her second in command. It still pains me to see Freedom of Azeroth listed on Lightbringer with all of our achievements, and memories taken, not earned by another.

Symbolically, like our guild crest of the Phoenix personifies, a small portion of those that could be reached moved on to the Realm of Aerie Peak. Rising through the ashes of despair, we recreated our once mighty guild and have slowly recouped our numbers. New generations of players have joined, and a family has been reborn. Our charge, whether a grizzled vet or new to raise up our banner, is the same. We must not fail as we fight for the Freedom of Azeroth!
